A bit about Healing Reflections...
I have created Healing Reflections as a safe and accepting space, filled with compassion, understanding and empathy. A space free of judgement to work with you in hearing your story, identifying your barriers and in developing skills to overcome these obstacles. Over my years of counselling I have found that my strength and passion in helping others comes from the belief that no-one has to go through it alone. That there are safe people and places in the world, where you can find support in your time of need. I have found the way to create that space here for you through a remote online counselling service.
My name is Joanne McElroy, I am a tertiary qualified counsellor (Bachelor of Counselling) living in Roma Queensland. Through my counselling work over the past ten years I have assisted a diverse range of individuals, empowering those people to build their self-worth and image, in finding what works for you while staying true to your values and beliefs. My counselling experience has been focused on working with people who are experiencing or processing trauma, the effects of domestic violence or abuse, life changes or loss, depression and anxiety. When you are feeling lost, as though there is no way forward, when your problems are too loud or busy inside your own mind, that is when you need to reach out for help. I am here to help you through that time and work with you in understanding and finding your way forward.
I hold a Bachelor of Counselling completed through the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP) and am an accredited member with Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). As well as holding this training and experience I am committed to ongoing learning and research to continue to build and adapt my counselling experience with clients. My approach is based on person-centered therapy with integrated interventions from several different modalities including Cognitive Behavioral, Strengths-Based, Self-compassion, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment, and Gestalt therapies. I have found that an integrated approach allows me to tailor the counselling experience to each person and their unique situation or needs.
